Merry Christmas, Katy!  It was easy to know who to draw when I thought of you.  :3 It’s my first time drawing these two, so I hope it’s accurate enough!  I really like this couple just from what I’ve learned about them through your ask blog.  They’re so cute!  Kick-butt soldier lady and the cutie thief man!  I also couldn’t resist making Celes’s bangs wavy like in the Amano art.

Today in Japan, December 18, marks the 25th anniversary of the first Final Fantasy’s release on the Nintendo Famicom by what was then Square (now Square Enix) in 1987.

Twenty-five years later, Final Fantasy has evolved into a franchise that includes among its credits: fourteen main numbered games and four direct sequels; various branching game spiritual subseries including those under the Tactics and Crystal Chronicles brands; two full-length CGI films and a number of animated features; novellas, manga and radio dramas; and a line of concerts dedicated to the series’ music conducted by Grammy Award winning conductor Arnie Roth.

Final Fantasy is currently Square Enix’s most successful brands: its collective game library totals over 100 million units sold worldwide, making it among the best selling video game series ever.

The big Final Fantasy Gallery announcements will come tomorrow! Or so we thought… Actually, Square Enix did manage to sneak in a major announcement during today’s opening ceremony.

As reported by FF Reunion’s Aibo, who’s in attendance at the event, producer Shinji Hashimoto took the stage to announce the Final Fantasy 25th Anniversary Ultimate Box. The package will weigh a heavy five kilograms.

A slide shown at the event revealed that the compilation will include thirteen games:

• Final Fantasy (PS1, 1 disc)
• Final Fantasy II (PS1, 1 disc)
• Final Fantasy III (PSP, 1 disc)
• Final Fantasy IV (PS1, 1 disc)
• Final Fantasy V (PS1, 1 disc)
• Final Fantasy VI (PS1, 1 disc)
• Final Fantasy VII International (PS1, 4 discs)
• Final Fantasy VIII (PS1, 4 discs)
• Final Fantasy IX (PS1, 4 discs)
• Final Fantasy X (PS2, 1 disc)
• Final Fantasy XI Vana Del Collection 2 (PS2, 1 disc)
• Final Fantasy XII (PS2, 1 disc)
• Final Fantasy XIII (PS3, 1 disc)

The compilation also includes some limited bonus items:

• Special anniversary video disc
• Crystal ArtWorks — an anniversary visual art collection
• A two disc anniversary music selection CD
• Final Fantasy XIV Mogu Mogu Earring item code
• Mini replica of Amano FF 25th Anniversary visual and stand
